My interview in Kiplinger’s Personal finance June 20, 2007
Posted by Niels in : Beauty and the Geek, Dating coach, Magazine, Personal , trackbackKiplinger Personal Finance magazine profiled me in this month’s issue. Unfortunately, all you can get online is the blurb: “From Engineering Geek to Dating Coach: A PhD student in electrical engineering changes direction after a stint on the reality TV show Beauty and the Geek.” But if you swing by your local bookstore, you can check me out on the last page of the July 2007 issue. I do have to say, it was a great experience working with a photographer who was working to make me look cool rather than geeky.

I just finished reading my copy yesterday and was surprised to see you there. Great interview and HOT photo! Keep up the good work.
Hey Neils,
Good for you! I too was a dorky science type who had a revelation about women - actually thanks to certain articles on the web that you probably already know about. Anywhoo, I realized that there is pretty much zero chance that the good female friend who you secretly have a crush on will ever view you romantically. By changing my approach to making my intentions clear from the beginning, my luck with women dramatically changed! It’s amazing how being put on the ‘friends’ list in a chick’s mind during the first convo ruins any chance of sex later on [before I get flamed, this obviously doesn’t apply if she is currently dating someone else.] Its funny how so many smart guys (case in point from Blair) just can’t score with chicks because they simply have no plan and no idea what they’re doing.
I guess becoming a dating coach takes it to a whole new level. I think helping guys (and girls!) acheive dating sucess is a great, great job.
Best
