I’m a has-been! February 16, 2007

Posted by Niels in : Beauty and the Geek, Life, the universe, and everything , trackback

It’s official, I’m all washed up. A reporter from the Washington Post contacted me a few weeks ago about doing a feature article on me and the Art of Rapport workshop in DC this weekend. Unfortunately, his editor lost all interest in the article today after hearing the season was over and I didn’t win. So that’s that - I’m no longer newsworthy.

It’s ok, though. I fully expect to be famous eventually, and next time it’ll be on my own merits.

I’m curious why you don’t think being famous for being on the show was your own merits.

2. Anna - February 16, 2007

You’re already famous to some degree! Being the winner of the Beauty and the Geek doesn’t guarrantee long term success anyway. Out of every cast member, you’ve made the most impact and changes throughout this season. =)

Hey Niels - I’m gay and I think you’re hot. With a little courage you gained from the show your going to be meeting a lot of girls.

I don’t think you’re washed up.
You will always be my favorite geek from all the seasons no matter how may seasons there are. (I think)
I’ll make you another collage if you like.

No worries, Niels….that’s Showbiz for ya….but it’s not over! Just think of all the new fans that you’ve received, and opened doors ahead!

7. Carol - February 16, 2007

thats actually pretty funny. its horrible yet amusing. i was published in HairTrigger 7, which is a publication that wins the Gold Crown Award each year, basically kicking everyones butt, even Harvard which places a paltry 2nd versus Columbia College Chicago

Regardless, I was smug and a featured writer, spoke to an audience of 500 people downtown while they downed sushi and juice and Caribou Coffee during the publication party & literary agents were sniffing about like starving wolves to fresh meat-

I was on top of the world until an agent read my manuscript, called me too “literal” a writer and asked for a rewrite

I rewrote it and she dropped me after telling me she didn’t like my “crass Selbyish style”

things change. so what?

i now comment on peoples blogs whom i personally don’t know and go on myspace for kicks

just laugh and kiss as many girls as u can

you are the awesomist awesome! i will write an article about niels hoven being a hasbeen and post it on my blog you’ll love it!

11. MrsNielsHoven - February 16, 2007

Niels, you are no has-been! You touched my heart on that show, even in only a couple episodes. On reality TV you don’t see that many genuine smart kindhearted people with integrity. The way you handled the phone number challenge stood out to me the most.. I hope you always stay the same sweet Niels!

hey niels,

who said you are no longer newsworthy, i’m pretty sure you life in showbiz will start soon. you said it yourself that your life has changed since the show aired and it is going to be more interesting soon
even that i still think that you are a great, kind and a sweet person.
i have watched many reality TV show and you are the only one that i actually go and search for your profile.

so don’t worry, because you still have us here who keep posting in your blog and always stay the same :)

Umm I thought all off this art of attraction buisness was supposed to instill more confidence in you? I mean as a coach I would think you would be able to see your own transfromation and realize it’s not about the destination so much as the journey. If your going to talk the talk walk the walk niels. Think of all the people your experience has impacted. You may never meet some of them and yet you have touched and changed thier lives. Thats a gift few people have the honor of bestowing. Good luck to you.

ohhh ok i understand why my comment was getting cut off. ok i’ll say this for the last time. =)

1. i think you’re hot
2. i love light skinned, dark haired, tall, clean cut guys with nice smiles. you are adorable!
3. i lost interest in the show after you were eliminated.

that is all! it should post this time.

18. anne - February 21, 2007

it must be nice getting all this attention from people who dont even know you. hmm. i need to get myself on the next season of beauty and the geek.

19. Jenny - February 24, 2007

Same here! You’re the only one I ever went online looking for. I thought you were the cutest and the less geeky looking in the whole cast when I watched the first episode. I do think that you did get famous on your merits especially your personality. You showed what a geniune, sweet, caring, considerate, intelligent, funny, open, and lovable (not to mention hot!) person you are and I think that is what is most important. So congrats to you! you deserve a big pat on the back so please be proud of yourself! Me and the others here will always be your loyal fans and will keep commenting as long as you keep your site up! and even if you don’t i’ll comment you on myspace (oh thx for the add by the way) hehe..
xoxo
